This prison project is located on approximately 650 acres in Pickens County, Alabama. The prison consists of a medium security federal prison for women and a satellite prison camp for minimum-security female inmates. The site also contains ball fields, a warehouse, garage, utility plant, and firing range. The project cost was approximately $200 million and was constructed by a joint venture of Caddell Construction and W.G. Yates & Sons. TTL had up to six personnel on-site throughout the project and had an on-site office and laboratory for performing soils analyses and storing and testing concrete cylinders. TTL performed density testing of soil fill during the mass grading of the site and on the stone base used in the various roadways throughout the site; provided laboratory and field testing and monitored the asphalt placed in the roadways; sampled and tested concrete used for the foundations and the precast cell pods constructed on site; observed the construction of masonry walls; and sampled and tested the grout used in the walls. TTL also provided concrete, masonry and structural steel special inspections.
