TTL provided comprehensive environmental, geotechnical, and materials testing services for the original building. Located in a topographically low area of Nashville where nineteenth century urban development included placement of thick intervals of mixed fill, the site was complicated environmentally and geotechnically. At the time of project planning, the property was occupied by the maintenance facilities and garages of the Nashville Fire Department. The presence of underground tanks, hydraulic equipment, and several buildings supported by deep foundations limited our access to the property for field explorations and early testing and presented challenges for site evaluation.
