TTL was contracted to provide Construction Engineer and Inspection services (CE&I) for six miles of new roadway in Dickson County and twelve miles of new roadway in Williamson County, including seven bridges and three retaining structures. Project requirements included observation of soil fill embankments, placement and compaction of basestone, and the placement of asphalt. Construction was in an undeveloped area and required particular attention to erosion control and environmental protection. State Route 840 is part of Tennessee’s Better Roads Program, and was constructed to encourage economic growth in Middle Tennessee by connecting adjacent communities. It surrounds Nashville and Davidson County and improves access to the interstate system while avoiding downtown Nashville.
