Our highly-trained technicians and AASHTO-accredited laboratories are equipped with the tools essential for properly testing the components of construction, such as concrete, soil, aggregate, steel, masonry, and asphalt. TTL knows the safety of our clients and communities depend on our results and we do not take that responsibility lightly. Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I)

TTL provides construction engineering and inspection (CE&I) services for cities, counties and state departments of transportation (DOT). Our personnel have decades of experience managing and inspecting transportation projects. We have staff with specific state DOT relationships and knowledge. Our project experience includes urban multi-lane highway rehabilitation to small rural county bridge replacements. 

Combustion Coal Ash Residual (CCR) Disposal

TTL has significant experience providing Quality Control/Quality Assurance services for combustion coal ash residual (CCR) disposal projects. We have worked at over a dozen coal fired generating facilities providing QA services during site grading operations, liner installation, and coal ash disposal. We have also provided well development services on over 100 CCR compliance wells and have experience with over 50 million square feet of HDPE liner. TTL personnel are experienced in sampling and testing of coal by-products such as gypsum, fly ash, and bottom ash. We perform a number of services during design and construction for CCR projects including geotechnical explorations, construction materials testing, environmental compliance support, and topographic surveys.

Our Construction Quality Control services include:

  • Inspection observations of existing coal combustion product (CCP) storage facilities
  • Density tests, dynamic cone penetrometer and proofrolling
  • CCR compliance monitoring well installation and oversight
  • Geophysical logging and interpretation

  • Pre-construction laboratory testing of off-site borrow sources for clay liner material
  • Laboratory testing of the material used to construct the clay liner

Construction Materials Testing

Our experienced technicians deliver valuable insight to construction projects by allowing for timely and cost-effective problem resolution. Our laboratory has the tools and equipment essential for properly testing the components of construction, such as concrete, soil, aggregate, steel, and asphalt. We are continually evaluating, monitoring, and testing ourselves to provide our clients with superior data and services. Our staff is trained and certified by the International Code Council (ICC) for IBC Special Inspection in reinforced concrete and masonry. Our laboratories in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Albany & Valdosta, Georgia; and Nashville, Tennessee are AASHTO-accredited.
